About the memorandum of understanding

The memorandum of understanding is a formal agreement between your organisation and NHS England.

If your organisation is part of NHS England, it is not legally binding.

If your organisation is not part of NHS England, it is legally binding.

The memorandum of understanding sets out how both parties will work together, including:

  • how NHS England provides NHS Notify
  • your responsibilities when using the service
  • your responsibility to follow acceptable use policies
  • how you agree to pay for the service
  • your responsibility for organisations connected to NHS Notify
  • how either party can end the agreement with 30 days’ notice

About the payment terms

The payment terms are included in the same document as the memorandum of understanding. They are a financial agreement that set out our charges and rules.
